The "Zakat, Tax, and Customs" Conference will take place in Riyadh, on February 8-9, 2023, and will feature over 30 workshops on various topics related to the zakat, tax, and customs sectors. Attendees must first register for the event at ztc.sa. Notably, these workshops will be introduced by experts in a variety of fields—both Arabic and English speakers.
H.E. Eng. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, Minister of Finance and ZATCA Chairman, is sponsoring the conference with the theme "An Integrated Digital Ecosystem for Sustainable Economy and Improved Security." The conference will tackle the most significant global and local experiences and developments in zakat, tax, and customs, as well as the sector's digital transformation.
By hosting workshops at the conference, ZATCA hopes to increase the compliance level and general awareness of taxpayers and customers, including importers, exporters, researchers, and anyone else with an interest in zakat, tax, and customs.
"Clearance within Two Hours" will be a significant workshop to be offered as part of the conference. In cooperation with 26 government authorities, representing customs clearance authorities, ZATCA has sought to broadly apply this concept in order to increase the flexibility of customs operations and related logistics, heighten the level of coordination between clearance authorities, and sustain the efforts of the clearance authorities to facilitate cross-border trade in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 and the country's aspirations to become a global platform for logistics.
In addition to the foregoing, one of the most important topics to be covered in these workshops is "E-Invoicing," and there will also be a workshop dedicated to "Duty-Free Shops" to highlight the rules and conditions identified by ZATCA in order to set up duty-free shops in the Saudi air, sea, and land ports.
Workshops on themes such as "VAT Refund Mechanism," "Zakat for SMEs," "Calculation Rules for Deemed-Based Taxpayers," "Import Journey," "Cross-Border E-Trade," and "Saber Platform" will also be presented at the conference.
