As a step towards improving government performance, MoF meets GAZT senior leaders

Al Sadhan: Visit of the Minister of Finance will help drive development aimed at improving the efficiency of the General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT).

Minister of Finance and Chairman of GAZT HE Mohammed A. Al Jadaan met last Tuesday 2/1/1438 AH with senior leaders of GAZT at the Authority's headquarters in Riyadh. During the meeting, held at the request of HE Director General of GAZT Mr. Tariq Al Sadhan, Mr. Al Sadhan welcomed the Minister and attendees with a speech highlighting the significance of the visit in boosting morale and addressing barriers as part of the Kingdom’s efforts towards establishing more efficient government bodies to support Vision 2030 for comprehensive and sustainable development.

This visit reflects GAZT’s importance in implementing the Fiscal Balance Program by 2020 according to the goals outlined in the National Transformation Program 2020 declared by the government. It also institutionalizes direct communication with senior leaders to hear their opinions, suggestions and ambitions in order to develop and improve performance at the required speed.

Al Sadhan thanked Al Jadaan for responding to the invitation, meeting with the leaders and talking with them about the development plans, motivations, obstacles and concerns. During the meeting, the Minister of Finance advised GAZT leaders on the government’s drive towards sustainable development to reach the highest levels of growth and development and a good standard of living. He stressed that this visit will have a great impact on the leaders who work tirelessly to help GAZT reach the highest levels.

It is worth mentioning that GAZT is currently working according to a new structure after it has been converted from an agency to an authority by a Council of Ministers Resolution last Rajab. The resolution aimed to enable the authority to carry out its tasks more efficiently given the fact that the KSA is working with G20 to address the issues of tax evasion and tax havens. In this regard, the KSA signed conventions on double taxation and mutual administrative assistance in tax matters.
