News
28 November 2025

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at the port of Duba and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport managed to thwart two attempts to smuggle 52,352 pills of the narcotic substance “Amphetamine” (Captagon), and 3.8 kilograms of cocaine, which were found hidden in a shipment and luggage of a traveler arriving in the Kingdom.
ZATCA’s official spokesperson Mr. Hamoud Al-Harbi, stated that Duba Customs Port foiled the first attempt to smuggle 52,352 Amphetamine (Captagon) pills found hidden inside wooden planks. Al-Harbi added that in a second attempt, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport Customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle 3.8 kilograms of cocaine, which was found hidden in the luggage of a passenger arriving in the Kingdom via the airport.
Al-Harbi reported that after the seizure operations were completed, coordination was made with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the seized items inside the Kingdom, and they were arrested, numbering 4 people.
Mr. Al-Harbi emphasized that ZATCA reaffirms its continued commitment to strengthening customs control over Saudi Arabia’s imports and exports and to confronting all smuggling attempts. This effort aligns with one of the core pillars of ZATCA’s strategy: enhancing security and protecting society by limiting the entry of harmful substances and other prohibited items.
Al-Harbi urged the public to contribute to combat smuggling to safeguard society and the national economy. Reports can be submitted confidentially via the designated security hotline (1910), by email at (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or through the international number (+9661910). Informants may be eligible for a financial reward if the report’s information proves to be accurate.
