The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Al-Haditha Customs Port successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle 47,927 amphetamine pills (Captagon). The drugs were discovered concealed within a shipment arriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the customs port.
ZATCA’s official spokesperson, Mr. Hamoud Al-Harbi, stated that upon the arrival of one of the trucks to Al-Haditha port, and through advanced security screening technologies and detection K9, ZATCA discovered the concealed pills were hidden within the cargo carried by the truck.
Al-Harbi added that, following the seizure, coordination took place with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), which led to the arrest of four individuals who were set to receive the shipment within Saudi Arabia.
He emphasized that ZATCA remains committed to tightening customs control through all its ports over the Saudi Arabia’s imports and exports and confronting all smuggling attempts. This effort aligns with one of the core pillars of ZATCA’s strategy: enhancing security and protecting society by limiting the entry of harmful substances and other prohibited items.
Al-Harbi has urged the public to contribute to anti-smuggling efforts aimed at protecting the community and the national economy.
