The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority successfully thwarted two attempts to smuggle an amount of 301,325 Amphetamine (Captagon) pills found concealed within two vehicles arriving in the kingdom through Al-Haditha and King Fahad Causeway Customs Port.
ZATCA's official spokesperson, Mr. Hamoud Al-Harbi, stated that in the first attempt 209,759 pills were foiled from being smuggled as they were hidden inside the spare tire cavity of a vehicle arriving through King Fahad causeway customs port. In the second attempt 91,566 pills were foiled from being smuggled as they were hidden inside the cavity of bus parts arriving through Al-Haditha Port.
Al-Harbi added that, following the seizure, coordination took place with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), which led to the arrest of the receiver of the shipments within Saudi Arabia.
He emphasized that ZATCA reaffirms its continued commitment to strengthening customs control over Saudi Arabia’s imports and exports and to confronting all smuggling attempts. This effort aligns with one of the core pillars of ZATCA’s strategy: enhancing security and protecting society by limiting the entry of harmful substances and other prohibited items.
ZATCA urged the public to contribute to combating smuggling in order to safeguard society and the national economy.
