The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Jeddah Islamic Port successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 310,000 pills of the narcotic substance amphetamine (Captagon Pills). The pills were found concealed within a vehiclearriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the port.
ZATCA's official spokesperson, Mr. Hamoud Al-Harbi, stated that the pills were discovered hidden in various parts of the vehicle during an inspection and examination process conducted upon its arrival at the port
Al-Harbi added that, following the seizure, coordination took place with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), which led to the arrest of eight individuals who were set to receive the shipment within Saudi Arabia.
He emphasized ZATCA remains committed to tightening customs control over imports and exports to safeguard the security of society and protect it from such harmful substances, in continued cooperation and coordination with the GDNC.
The spokesperson also urged the public to contribute to anti-smuggling efforts aimed at protecting the community and the national economy. ZATCA assures that all reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the GCC Common Customs Law will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. A financial reward will be granted to informants if the information provided is verified and accurate.
