The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle 1,586,118 pills of the substance Amphetamine “Captagon" hidden in a shipment arriving at Jeddah Islamic Port.
ZATCA reported that the shipment was declared as “Panels" during routine customs, advanced security technologies, and K9 were used, revealing the pills concealed in the panel cavities.
ZATCA has stated that, after seizure and confiscation, it coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to arrest three individuals suspected of being the intended recipients of the drugs in Saudi Arabia.
ZATCA reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing strict customs controls on the Kingdom's imports and exports and emphasized its determination to ensure societal security and protect it from such threats, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
ZATCA also urged the public to support its anti-smuggling efforts to protect society and the national economy by reporting suspected activities via the designated security report number (1910), email (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or the international number (009661910). ZATCA ensures that reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law are handled with the utmost confidentiality, and financial rewards are granted to whistleblowers providing accurate information.
