The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has Launched AS'HMT Initiative, inspired by its internal audit values and vision within ZATCA. This initiative aims to support the objectives of government governance, enhance the role of internal auditing in government entities, and contribute to improving the efficiency and quality of internal auditing activities by exchanging expertise and knowledge and applying best practices and models in the field.
AS'HMT is based on ZATCA's strategic values, focusing on adherence to professional standards, the integrity and enhancement of internal and self-control systems, and creating a work environment that highlights the role of internal auditing in ensuring compliance with both internal and external regulations and laws. It also supports achieving ZATCA's strategic goals, developing a highly skilled and sustainable audit team, achieving operational excellence, and advancing the digital transformation of internal audit processes.
It is noteworthy that ZATCA previously received the "Independent External Quality Assessment" certification from the Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors. This achievement makes it the first government entity in the Kingdom to attain the highest level in the maturity scale (Optimizing) and to be rated in accordance with international standards for professional internal auditing practices. This recognition reflects ZATCA's commitment to adopting best practices to ensure efficiency in internal auditing, adhering to the highest global standards.
