The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Jeddah Islamic Port has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 46.8 kilograms of cocaine, found hidden within a shipment arriving in the Kingdom through the port.
The Authority explained that a shipment of "frozen chicken" arrived at the port, and upon undergoing customs procedures and being inspected using security technologies and sniffer dogs (K9), the quantity of cocaine was discovered concealed inside the shipment's refrigeration unit.
ZATCA stressed its ongoing efforts to tighten customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports, standing firm against smuggling attempts. This is in line with one of the key pillars of ZATCA's strategy, which aims to enhance the security and protection of society by curbing such activities.
The Authority urged the public to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by contacting it via the dedicated security reports number 1910, the email: 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or the international number 00966114208417. Through such channels, the Authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Common Customs Law in complete confidentiality. It offers a financial reward to the informant if the report's information is accurate.
