The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2,991,342 Captagon pills at Al-Batha Port. The pills were concealed within a shipment arriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
ZATCA reported that the shipment, declared as "LED lighting products," underwent standard customs procedures. Upon inspection using advanced security technologies and K9, the pills were discovered hidden within the consignment.
Following the seizure, coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) led to the arrest of the intended recipients inside the Kingdom, identified as two individuals.
ZATCA reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports to ensure community safety. This effort is achieved through continuous collaboration with the GDNC to combat such harmful threats.
It urged everyone to participate in combating the smuggling attempts to safeguard society and the national economy by calling security reports No. (1910), the international number (009661910), or via e-mail (1910@zatca.gov.sa). Through these channels, the Authority receives reports regarding smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law in strict confidentiality, offering a financial reward if the information provided is accurate.
