Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has called on Freight Forwarders to benefit from the shipments consolidation service for shared containers at Saudi Arabia's sea ports through ZATCA's systems. The most prominent is facilitating the customs declaration and the consolidation of incoming shipments so that the Freight Forwarders are responsible to customers for providing all services until the arrival of the shipment, which allows customers to deal with only one party, in addition to that the Freight Forwarders distributes and follows tasks on all related parties (transportations, navigation, customs clearance, warehousing, etc. companies).
ZATCA clarified that Freight Forwarders constitutes a critical link in the global supply chain process, stressing that the services that Freight forwarders will provide to customers are an opportunity for competitive prices offered by customs brokers, transports companies, and freight forwarders, in addition to providing more shipping options which contribute to reducing import and export costs.
ZATCA pointed out that through the last phase, Fright Forwarders Companies are allowed to obtain a license to practice the profession of customs clearance, to enable them to activate their role towards facilitating trade, in addition to their contribution to raising the efficiency of customs clearance operations and the logistics services provided.
Through this step, ZATCA aims to enable Freight Forwarders to provide distinguished logistical services at air ports that are compatible with its objectives towards strengthening Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub, by facilitating and developing customs procedures to achieve flexibility in the customs clearance process, in cooperation with all relevant authorities.
