The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority has stated that it has intercepted an attempt to smuggle 416,250 captagon pills, which were found hidden in a shipment that arrived in the Kingdom through at Duba Port.
The Authority stated that that a consignment of “curtains" was received and when it was subjected to customs procedures and inspected through security techniques, this quantity of pills was found hidden in a technical manner inside the “curtains".
ZATCA has confirmed it is committed to bolstering customs controls regarding Saudi Arabia's imports and exports, and to intercepting the attempts of smugglers. This is being done in coordination and continuous cooperation with its partners in the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics, (GDNC), in order to ensure the security of society and protect it from these dangers.
ZATCA has also has urged the public to help in the fight against smuggling, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in safeguarding society and the national economy by contacting the ZATCA's designated channels , including the security reports hotline (1910), e-mail (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or the international number (00966114208417). ZATCA will receive reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law confidentially; Informants providing accurate information leading to successful interceptions may receive a financial reward.
