Global interest in Kingdom’s “E-invoicing” experience at Tax Administration Forum in Singapore

The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) showcased its successful implementation of electronic invoicing (E-invoicing) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the Tax Administration Forum held in Singapore from October 11th to 13th, 2023. This international forum was attended by tax administration commissioners from more than 50 countries, as well as representatives from international organizations, regional tax administration bodies, businesses, and academia.

The Kingdom received positive feedback and interest from the attendees regarding its efficient implementation of E-invoicing. The three-day event focused on discussions related to innovative practices, knowledge sharing, and exchanging experiences. Participating countries, including France, Malaysia, Sweden, Portugal, and China, expressed their interest in obtaining more information about the Kingdom's successful implementation of electronic invoicing. The Kingdom's progress in E-invoicing can be attributed to its advanced digital infrastructure and the willingness of the Saudi private sector to embrace technological advancements. As a result, Saudi Arabia has become one of the fastest countries in the world to implement electronic invoicing.

On the sidelines of the Forum's annual meeting, His Excellency Engineer Suhail bin Mohammed Abanmi, the Governor of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, held bilateral meetings with his counterparts in the member states including the Republic of Finland, the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Norway, and the Republic of Estonia with the intention of strengthening cooperation and exchange of experiences in the related fields.
