Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has intercepted two attempts to smuggle an amount of Methamphetamine at the Al-Batha and Al Haditha Customs Ports, which were found hidden in two consignments coming to the Kingdom through these ports.
ZATCA stated that in the first attempt, a vehicle arrived in the Kingdom through Al-Batha port, and while inspecting it through customs procedures and security techniques, (83.2) kilograms of shabu, which were found hidden in pieces of “marble stone", by saturating the marble pieces with shabu. In the second attempt, Al Haditha Customs Port intercepted the smuggling of 23.8 kg of shabu, kilograms of shabu, which were found hidden in the spare tire of the vehicle, by hiding the seized items in the tire cavity.
Following the seizure, ZATCA stated that the coordination was made with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of seizures within Saudi Arabia. Two individuals were arrested.
ZATCA has confirmed it is committed to bolstering customs controls regarding Saudi Arabia's imports and exports. This is in line with its strategy to enhance the security and protection of society by decreasing the smuggling of such harmful substances. This is being done in coordination and continuous cooperation with its partners in the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics,
