King Fahd International Airport Customs in Dammam has successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle 40,000 amphetamine pills, which were found hidden in a parcel arriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the airport.
ZATCA Official Spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi stated that a postal parcel arrived in the Kingdom via King Fahd International Airport. Upon undergoing customs procedures and being inspected using security technologies and K9 units, the narcotic pills were discovered concealed inside a package containing glass cups.
Al-Harbi added that after completing the seizure, coordination was carried out with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) to ensure the arrest of the intended recipients inside the Kingdom. Two individuals were subsequently arrested.
The Official Spokesperson affirmed that ZATCA, through all its customs ports, continues to tighten customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports and remains vigilant against smuggling attempts. This aligns with one of the key pillars of its strategy: enhancing the security and protection of society by curbing attempts to smuggle such harmful substances and other prohibited items, in coordination and cooperation with its partners: The Ministry of Interior and GDNC.
Al-Harbi called on everyone to contribute to combating smuggling in order to protect society and the national economy by contacting the Authority through the dedicated security reports number (1910), email (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or the international number (009661910). Through these channels, the Authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law with complete confidentiality, and grants a financial reward to the informant if the information provided proves to be accurate.
