ZATCA invites importers to benefit from its customs services

04 April 2022

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has invited importers to benefit from its customs services available on its website. The online services allow importers to complete their customs procedures quickly and easily.

The Authority referenced “deferral of collection service" as the most significant service used on its website. The service allows users to defer the payment of customs duties for 30 days since the clearance date. Importers can apply for deferment through one of the official channels: deferral after submitting bank guarantee or deferral after submitting customs declaration. Several requirements and standards identified by ZATCA must be fulfilled. The requirements are available at ZATCA's website.

The Authority also announced that it provided a customs duty refund service that allows importers to apply for the refund of the amounts pre-collected by the Authority. The service is conditional upon proof that the applicants are eligible for restitution in accordance with the terms and conditions in line with the Common Customs Law. This service allows applying for refund of the fixed customs duties, and insurance fees. It is worth noting that customs duties refund requests require that three years have not passed since the date of the payment of such duties.

One of the customs services available at the Authority's website is the refund service for the national origin rules, which allows importers to request customs duties refund on products that conferred origin from GCC countries. ZATCA also launched the objection service on its website. This service provides for submitting an objection request on collection decisions, penalties, and rejected refund requests.

In the meantime, ZATCA anyone who wishes to learn more about the customs services to visit its e-services page by clicking here. ZATCA also urges any inquirers to contact its 24/7 call center hotline (19993), the Customer Care Twitter account (@Zatca_care), e-mail (info@zatca.gov.sa), or instant messages on ZATCA's website (zatca.gov.sa).
