The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Al-Haditha Customs Port successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle 406,395 amphetamine pills (Captagon). The drugs were discovered concealed within a shipment arriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the customs port.
ZATCA explained that the shipment, consisting of sheep, underwent routine customs procedures. Upon inspection using advanced security technologies and K9, the pills were found hidden inside the sheep's wool.
ZATCA further stated that, following the seizure, coordination was made with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) to ensure the apprehension of the recipients of the contraband within the Kingdom. Three individuals were subsequently arrested.
The Authority reaffirmed its continued commitment to strengthening customs control over Saudi Arabia’s imports and exports and to confronting all smuggling attempts. This effort aligns with one of the core pillars of ZATCA’s strategy: enhancing security and protecting society by limiting the entry of harmful substances and other prohibited items.
ZATCA urged the public to contribute to combating smuggling in order to safeguard society and the national economy.
