The first round of the specialist workshops for accountants in the Dammam branch of the General Authority for Zakat and Tax (GAZT) kicked off on Tuesday 4/3/1437 AH.
The GAZT Department of Development and Research organizes annual workshops at the head office and the branches to improve the performance of the GAZT affiliates.
The first workshop, facilitated by Mr. Ali Al-Doghmani, Mr. Fahd Al-Mojil and Mr. Faisal Al-Damin, covered a number of subjects, including the tasks of the taxpayer service departments at the GAZT branches as well as the rights and duties of taxpayers.
The persona of the ideal taxpayer service staff as well as the registration problems and ways to handle them were also highlighted on in the first workshop.
Another workshop addressed the importance of Zakat and its economic and social role, the instructions of Zakat collection and the identification of the Zakat base.
The speakers, Mr. Khalid Al Fuhaid and Mr. Akram Al Tawal, also discussed the permissible and not permissible Zakat recipients and cases of Zakat evasion and how to discover such cases.
The two workshops will be followed by other five workshops on the tax system and its applications, the deduction tax, the field inspection, the tax collection and the provisions of the international tax conventions were provided under the supervision of specialists from the GAZT head office and Riyadh branch.
The GAZT is keen on organizing annual workshops to get the GAZT staff acquainted with latest work developments, ensure they provide better services, and make use of knowledge and practical experiences to facilitate procedures for taxpayers.
