The Director General of the General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT), Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Mufleh inaugurated a branch of the authority in Jazan.
This step came in response of the heads of states instructions to streamline procedures for the citizens and help them complete and submit the required paperwork to GAZT in nearby branches.
To make things easier for the taxpayers, the Authority recently expanded the use of electronic systems as the number of online tax returns, reaching 86% of the total applications submitted last year.
Meanwhile, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jazan hosted on Monday 25/5/1436 AH a meeting between the Director General of the authority and Jazan businessmen in which Al Mufleh thanked the Chamber for arranging the meeting.
In addition, Al Mufleh highlighted the roles and services of the Authority, and noted that GAZT seeks the development and modernization of the services it provides through contracting with the best companies in the field of technology to develop the automated systems and connecting to the relevant national entities, including linkage to the "Qawaem" program that has been implemented in the beginning of the current fiscal year.
Zakat collection draft law is under discussion by the Bureau of Experts, said Mr. Al Mufleh hoping that the law will be issued soon to be a reference for all the Zakat payers who deal with the authority. Al Mufleh also discussed the tax incentives provided to some regions, including Jazan, to encourage foreign investors to set up projects so as to benefit from such incentives. He expressed hopes that Jazan branch could play a role in stimulating investment in the region.
He stressed that the proceeds of Zakat are deposited in a separate account used to pay for the beneficiaries of the Social Security Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim Al Hassan, Director of the Audit Department, Mr. Ibrahim Ali Asiri, Director of Jazan Branch, and Abdulrahman Nasser Al Asmari, Manager of the GAZT Director General office.
