The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Al-Batha port has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 218,280 pills subject to medical circulation regulations. The seizure was made after the substances were found hidden within a shipment entering the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the port.
According to the official spokesperson for ZATCA, Hamoud Al-Harbi, the contraband was discovered during routine customs procedures. Upon inspecting a shipment of "paints" using advanced security technologies and K9, the illicit pills were found meticulously concealed within the consignment.
The spokesperson emphasized that ZATCA remains committed to tightening customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports across all ports. He stressed that ZATCA stands vigilant against smuggling attempts to fulfill its strategic pillar of enhancing community security and protection by curbing the trafficking of such toxins and other prohibited goods.
