 Guidelines for Travelers:

​Obligation of travelers at customs ports:

-Disclosure:

The travelers through air, land, or, seaports are obligated to disclose the following materials if they are in his possession, which are:

·         Cash amounts, transferable fina​ncial instruments, metals, or other currencies if the total exceeds SAR 60,000 or its equivalent.

·         Any luggage or gifts in commercial quantities or samples in quantities exceeding personal use and whose value exceeds SAR 3,000 or its equivalent.

·         Any tobacco derivative products if their quantity exceeds 200 cigarettes or 500 grams.

·         Any restricted materials that require approval from competent authorities (for example: medicines, drones).

Note that non-disclosure  of the above-mentioned materials, if they exist, and write that down in the disclosure forms available at customs ports, exposes you to legal accountability and penalties.

At International Airports:

·         In the departure lounge of the customs office before arriving at the security checkpoints, you will find an employee handing you the form.

·         When arriving before passports, as well as inside the lounge in the baggage claim area. 


At Land Ports:

·         Upon departure you will find the disclosure form at the customs office.   

·         Upon arriving, you will find the disclosure form at the passport offices.​


At Seaports:

·         In the departure lounge of the customs office before arriving at the security checkpoints, you will find an employee handing you the form.

·         When arriving before passports, as well as inside the lounge in the baggage claim area. 


General Warning for Travelers: ​

Please pay attention to your personal belongings, and do not carry any items that do not belong to you. If any prohibited items are found in your possession, you will be fully responsible for them to the system.

Smuggling any of the prohibited items exposes you to penalties that include imprisonment and a fine. The list of prohibited items includes the following:

  • Alcohol and drugs of all kinds.
  • Unlicensed media materials or various media storage materials that contain immoral materials.
  • All types of electric shock.
  • Lasers in various forms: travelers arriving in the kingdom are allowed one laser pen, which is red only, and the laser power it produces dose not exceed (5 milliwatts).
  • Fireworks.
  • Eavesdropping devices of all shapes and types.
  • Speed radar detectors.
  • Tear softeners.
  • What contain a secret camera such as watches, pens, glasses, and airplanes.
  • Chewing smoke.
  • Sexual organs, tools, and devices.
  • Pills, creams, sexual tonics, abortion pills, herbs and cosmetics not registered with the Food and Drug Authority.
  • Guru fruits.
  • Nutmeg fruits and its powder.
  • Counterfeit currencies.​

Information that is important to you when travelling by land using personal vehicles: 

  • The vehicle and its driver must have valid licenses when crossing land customs ports.
  • There is no minimum vehicle model for travel outside the kingdom as long as its papers are valid.
  • If the vehicle is driven by someone other than its owner, authorization to drive the vehicle must be available and registered in the traffic regulations if travailing outside the kingdom, even if the vehicle owner is in the vehicle as a passenger.
  • The customs employee at land ports has the right to search the vehicle in case of suspicion, and this includes personally searching passengers. There is a special section for searching women by female customs inspectors in all customs ports. 

Important information for travelers:

  • Why is it required to fill out the disclosure form?

Because the traveler has become obligated under article "14" of the Anti-Money Laundering System issued by Royal Decree No. M\39 dated 6\25\1424 AH to report funds whose value exceeds SAR 60,000 when leaving or arriving in the country.

Also, disclosing other materials according to what is stated in the disclosure form exempts you from customs evasion, as the materials mentioned in the disclosure form are demarcated after matching them verifying the accuracy of the information, and dealing with them in accordance with the unified customs system without resulting in any legal prosecution.

  • What are the harms to me as a traveler from disclosure?

There is no harm in disclosure if you travel with your money and bring it in, and the time to process the disclosure form will only take a few minutes.​
