 Eastern Province Governor inaugurates commissioning of passenger section at new Salwa Port

H.E. Saud bin Nayef Al Saud, Governor of Eastern Province, stated that the country had made great strides toward achieving the sustainable development goals and has made it abundantly apparent by expertly implementing several critical projects that have garnered international attention. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman are paving the way into the future with Saudi Vision 2030 by improving the infrastructure of every land port in the Kingdom.

 

Today, in the presence of HRH Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr Al Saud, Governor of Al Ahsa, H.E. Saud bin Nayef Al Saud presided over the commissioning of the passenger section of the new Salwa Port, which links the Kingdom with the State of Qatar. According to him, the Port will improve the flow of traffic and passenger, as well as the volume of trade and the economic ties between the two friendly countries.

 

Upon his arrival, the H.E. Governor of Eastern Province was given a thorough briefing on the new Port, its services, and the completed infrastructure projects and the ongoing developmental projects that ZATCA was working on to improve the Port's accommodation capacity. In addition, he toured the new Port's passenger section and the progress of ongoing projects.

 

H.E. Eng. Suhail bin Mohammed Abanmi, Governor of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, expressed gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for their royal directive to begin commissioning the passenger section at the new Salwa Port and for their ongoing support to ZATCA to complete the project and have it be ready for use with the integrated services and facilities it needs to serve all of its transients.

 

His Excellency also praised the Governor of Eastern Province's inspection visit and stand on commissioning the Salwa Port, confirming that the new port will play a significant role in facilitating the flow of vehicles and passengers and bolstering the volume of trade exchange and economic relationship between the two countries.

 

According to the Governor of ZATCA, the new Salwa Port is an extension of ZATCA's efforts to realise the most significant goals of the Saudi Vision 2030 by transforming the Kingdom into a global logistics hub by capitalising on its strategic location that connects three continents (Africa, Asia, and Europe) through the expansion of the land Ports infrastructure throughout the Kingdom. In order to improve the Kingdom's economy and streamline all land transit processes between the Kingdom and its neighbours, he confirmed that ZATCA established many strategic partnerships with public and private sectors by relying on best practices in designing, developing, and operating the Port infrastructures.

 

The tour was hosted by the Director General of the General Directorate of Passports Major General Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahya, Director General of the Border Guard, Major General Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Shehri, and Governor of Al-Adeed, Mr. Saad bin Muhammad Al-Ajlan.​
