The ZATCA Academy held a regional workshop entitled “Accreditation of Harmonized System (HS) Expert Trainers" in cooperation with WCO, which brought together an array of WCO experts in HS and training experts, and HS experts from ZATCA's employees as well as employees of Customs in Near East and MENA Region.
The workshop aims to prepare and qualify WCO-accredited expert trainers to carry out leading training activities independently at the local and regional levels on WCO's behalf to contribute to building and developing capacity locally at ZATCA or regionally by participating as expert trainers in the WCO's training activities carried out in states of the Region. These activities fall under “Human Capacity Development", which is one of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 Programs.
ZATCA Academy selected the candidates for this workshop according to strict criteria, which achieve the active participation necessary to pass the evaluation throughout the workshop period, in preparation for granting them the final accreditation as trainers by WCO.
HS Nomenclature includes descriptions and coding of the commodities and the respective “customs duties" as well as the rules and notes of kinds and types of commodities, and aims to facilitate trade and information exchange by coordinating the classification and categorization of goods in international trade, and is used for customs tariffs and collection of foreign trade statistics.
