ZATCA has successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of Captagon pills (2.144.180) pills, at Al Haditha port as these pills were found concealed inside a shipment received via the port.

ZATCA revealed that the shipment was received via Al Haditha port, that were cartons of “tomato paste" carried on a truck. When it underwent customs procedures and inspected by X-ray inspection machines, this quantity of Captagon pills were found. They were concealed in an artificial way inside the lids of tomato paste cans as the lids were hollowed for the purpose of smuggling and putting the pills in it. ZATCA said also that after seizing the prohibited materials, all legal procedures were taken.

ZATCA confirmed in this regard that all its land, sea and air ports stand as strong barriers against all smugglers' attempts and campaigns, including exploiting the days of seasons and food shipments to attempt to pass these prohibited materials. Furthermore, ZATCA confirmed in this regard that all its ports made its best efforts to tighten customs control over Kingdom imports using the latest security technologies, in addition to achieving cooperation and coordination with relevant entities in order to unite and combine efforts to reduce all forms and types of drug smuggling operations.

ZATCA invites all people to contact it via Security Reports Center (1910) to report any information related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the Common Customs Law as the Center receives and follows up security reports in strict confidence and give financial reward to the reporter if the report information is true.

It is reported that ZATCA, at the end of last June, had thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of Captagon pills that were more than 4.5 million pills, which were found concealed in an “orange" shipment received via Jeddah Islamic Port. ​
