ZATCA updates Rules of Returned Goods Customs Duties Exemptions

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has updated the Rules of Returned Goods Customs Duties Exemptions. The new amendments aim to update the requirements for exemption of the returned goods, address the challenges pertaining to the temporarily exported goods to complete their manufacture or repair abroad. The updates include the approval of exemption before the goods leave the customs zone, which will facilitate the exemption procedures and address challenges against customers regarding temporarily exported goods to complete their manufacture or repair. The updates also included the cancellation of the value restrictions on returned goods, where an exemption request can be submitted for all returned goods, irrespective of their value, in accordance with the provisions of the Common Customs Law and its Implementing Regulations.

ZATCA invites customers to view the Rules of Returned Goods Customs Duties Exemptions on its website (zatca.gov.sa). The Rules identify all the provisions of the scope of application for the returned goods of national origin, re-exported returned foreign goods, and the goods temporarily exported for completion of manufacturing or repair.

Through the updates, ZATCA seeks to facilitate the procedures for its customers and reduce their time and effort; and deliver customs services in accordance with the best practices.
