The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has finished automating the International Transport Road (TIR) procedures at all its customs ports. This will allow TIR transit carriers to complete procedures and clear customs at customs ports after completing the electronic link with the TIR system.
ZATCA stated that it seeks to facilitate and save its customers' time and effort through this step. It also aims to provide custom services that align with best practices to impact the logistics services system positively. ZATCA affirmed its commitment to developing its customs services in line with its strategy to facilitate trade and contribute to transforming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia into a global logistics hub.
The Kingdom joined the TIR Convention to unify and facilitate customs and transit procedures, and to strengthen the security aspect that ensures the transport of goods in safe carriers and containers. This, in turn, contributes to growing the trade exchange and transit movement among the convention member states, reducing the truck waiting period, and facilitating their transit.
