ZATCA Thwarts Three Attempts to Smuggle More Than 18KG of Crystal Meth

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority has thwarted three attempts to smuggle more than 18kg of Crystal Meth, at Al-Batha Port and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina, which were found hidden in consignments with travelers coming to the Kingdom.

 

The Authority has stated that during the first attempt of customs procedures and inspections at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport, the Authority has found 6.9kg of Crystal Meth hidden in a technical way within one of the passenger's luggage.

 

The Authority has further stated that it has thwarted a second attempt of smuggling 1.7kg of Crystal Meth at Al-Batha port, which was found hidden inside one of the arriving passenger's body. Furthermore, it has thwarted a third attempt of smuggling 10.114kg of Crystal Meth at the same port, which was found hidden in a ceramic consignment inside a truck and placed in tissue boxes.

 

The Authority has explained that after completing the seizure process and in coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of those seizures, three involved people were arrested.

 

The Authority has confirmed its determination to continue tightening customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports and its standing by in the face of the smuggling lords attempts to achieve one of the most important pillars of its strategy represented in the security and protection of the society.

 

The Authority has also called on everyone to contribute to combat smuggling and protect the society and national economy by contacting the Authority's designated number for security reports (1910), via e-mail (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or by the international number (00966114208417). The Authority will receive reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Common Customs Law confidentially, with a financial reward given to the whistleblower if the provided information were proven correct.
