Today, Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority at the Rub' Al Khali Port, which links the Kingdom and the Sultanate of Oman, has began providing its services to arriving and departuring travelers to and from the Kingdom, and facilitating the procedures for the movement of trucks and vehicles, after the official announcement of the inauguration of the port during the official visit conducted by His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense - may Allah protect him - to Oman yesterday.
The Authority works in continuous coordination with the operators at the port, in order to ensure a smooth and flexible movement between the two countries. As the Authority completed all its preparations for the inauguration of the port, which operational work was completed and prepared to serve travelers within 57 days. It has began after issuing generous directives from the leaderships of the two neighboring countries to expedite the opening of the direct land road and the border port between the two countries.
The port is administratively under the Eastern Region, with a total area of 4,428,776 square meters, and includes the passenger and cargo area (inbound and outbound), in addition to the administrative area and the temporary housing area for employees. The passenger area at the port has a capacity of 1,700 vehicles/daily, while the cargo area has a capacity of 966 trucks/daily.
The port design was compatible with the requirements of the World Customs Organization in "smart" border crossings in terms of security, measurability, automation, risk management and technology dependence, as it will provide all means to achieve smooth movement.
