Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority Thwarts an Attempt to Smuggle More Than 3000 Bottles of Liquor in Jeddah Islamic Port

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority has succeeded in thwarting an attempt to smuggle a quantity of liquor, amounting to (3,612) bottles in Jeddah Islamic Port, all of which were hidden in a consignment received to the Kingdom through the port.

The Authority has stated that a consignment was received for the Kingdom through Jeddah Islamic Port, which consisted of "iron pipes," and when the consignment was subject to customs procedures and examined through the security techniques at the port, that quantity of liquor was found inside the consignment hidden inside those pipes.

The Authority has added that, after the seizure operations were completed, coordination with the police was carried out to ensure the arrest of those receiving the seizures inside the Kingdom, and the security operation resulted in the arrest of two criminals.

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority has confirmed that it is continuing to tighten the customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports and is working to combat smuggling in all its forms and types in order to achieve one of its most significant responsibilities and pillars, by contributing to the security and protection of society from these pests.

At the same time, the Authority has called for contributing to the fight against smuggling to protect society and the national economy by communicating with them on the number designated for security reports (1910) or via e-mail (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or the international number (00966114208417), where the Authority, through these channels, receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the unified customs system in strict confidence, as well as a financial reward given to the whistleblower if the information of the report is correct.
